Twilight Graphic Novel

Here's the Thing:

A panel from the graphic novel version of Stephenie Meyer's bestseller, Twilight, has been exclusively released by Entertainment Weekly. This picture is taken from the scene in which Edward officially introduces himself to Bella in biology class. I consider myself a pretty big fan of the series, although I have several issues with much of it, and even I had to roll my eyes at this.

For the love of Jacob Black, enough is enough!

Muisc Review: Florence + The Machines "Lungs"

Here's the Thing:

This new band is amazing! Perez Hilton posted one of their songs, "Drumming Song" on his website, and I liked it so much that I ended up buying their entire cd, which just debuted on July 7 2009.

The whole cd has such an amazing vibe to it, it makes me want to sing and dance half of the time and just sit and absorb the music the other half.

Florence has a very powerful and soulful voice and I can't place my finger on who she reminds me of and it's killing me.

My favorite tracks from the album are Drumming Song, Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up0, and Howl. There are about 14 tracks on the album and you can purchase the whole album on iTunes for $7.99. It's well worth every penny! A+

Harry Potter Cake

Here's the Thing:

In honor of the 6th Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, one of my FAVORITE blogs, Cake Wrecks, did a Sunday Sweets where they showcase cakes that are actually awesome instead of cakes that are shit-tastic.  The cake that particularly caught my eye was a cake in the shape of a book with the last line from the final Harry Potter installment, "All was well." I am not even going to lie, every time I read even the last line, I start to cry.  I thought I would share this with you.  I can't wait for Half Blood Prince to come out, and you bet that I'll have an awesome review up the next day!

Le Sigh

Here's the Thing:

Channing Tatum is officially off the market.  Yesterday afternoon Channing and that girl from Step Up tied the knot in front of 200 of their closest friends.  Personally, Channing could do much better, because I think Jenna has a real effed up chin.  Not to mention, Haylie Duff was one of her bridesmaids, what the hell???

Oh and also, I thought Channing Tatum was bisexual...??

Congrats on your nuptials!

Got Dayyyum!

Here's the Thing:

Check out this video of Harry Potter star Freddie Stroma teasing me in a fashion show of underwear.  Freddie plays Cormac McLaggen, a foul git who vies for Hermione's attention.  I discovered him a few months ago and have totally been crushing on him ever since.  Happy Sunday!

The Hottest Serial Killer EVER

Here's the Thing:

I'm really tired. I have bags under my eyes, my hair is taking a life of it's own. My coffee was so strong this morning it woke up a person in California. I have a splitting head ache.

Dumb bitch is probably hung over, one would think. Alas, however, this zombie-like state of mine is due solely because I was up late last night with my newest obsession, Dexter.

Dexter, sadly is not my boyfriend, but is the name of another Showtime series that I have begun watching. Dexter is the story of a man named, well, Dexter, who is a blood spatter analyst for the Miami police by day, and serial killer by night.

Do not be discourage though, because Dexter is a good serial killer, meaning he only hunts and kills criminals who have slipped through the cracks of the law, and he is always careful to make sure he has solid proof before pouncing on his victims.

Season 1 introduces Dexter to the Ice Truck Killer- a serial killer running loose on the streets of Miami -who is going around and chopping up hookers. Dexter becomes fascinated with the killer and gets pulled in even deeper to this case as the Ice Truck Killer begins stalking and testing Dexter as he continues to hunt down criminals.

Basically, the show is awesome. Dexter is by far the hottest serial killer I've ever seen and Michael C. Hall does an amazing job at capturing the insanity that plagues Dexter, yet he also compels the audience to care for Dexter and hope for his victory. I have never wanted a serial killer to prevail until now!

Dexter airs on Showtime, and I'll keep you updated about information for the new season.

Meanwhile, you can buy season 1 on DVD here

UPDATE: Just finished season 1....totally unexpected!!!! Wish I could start season 2, but I have work in the morning :(

True Blood Spoilers

Here's the Thing:

HBO has just released the titles and loglines for all the August episodes. They sound really juicy! As much as I love Bill, I'm ready for Eric and Sookie to hook up!

TV Review: 10 Things I Hate About You

Here's the Thing:

Last night ABC Family premiered their new television show, 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the hit 90's movie staring Julia Stiles, the late Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon Levitt and that girl from Alex Mack.

The television show stars Lindsey Shaw as Kat, Ethan Peck as Patrick , Nicholas Bran as Cameron, and Meghan Martin as Bianca.

When I first heard about this television adaptation, I was livid! How could they turn one of the best classic teen movies into an ABC Family show, where it was likely it would mirror the disaster that is Secret Life of the American Teenager. I vowed there was NO way that I would watch this show, even if Gregory Peck's grandson stars!

Alas, however, turn 8:00 I found myself sitting on my couch with my father and turning to ABC Family. I remember when he took me to see the movie when it came to the theaters, I thought I was so cool because it was my first PG-13 movie...I was 9 years old.

So I must say that I found the show charming. The plot deviates a bit from the movie, but that makes sense seeing as they have a whole series to stretch out. The show has everything that is needed for good entertainment; smoldering male lead- Ethan Peck is every bit as attractive as his grandfather was circa To Kill A Mockingbird (swoon), witty popular culture references- as Cameron watches his new love interest, Bianca, eat lunch with popular cheerleader, Chastity, he sighs, "it's too late, Voldemort's got her", a refreshing take a teen angst- Kat's rant on universal health care, and of course humorous one liners- Bianca complains " We aren't listening to NPR, it's giving me menopause"- as a listener to NPR, I chuckled.

During one scene in which Patrick is leaning on his motorcycle, with smoldering eyes, my friend Chis called me, and this is the conversation that we had.

Chis: Don't get mad at me
Me: What?
Chis: I'm watching 10 Things I Hate About You...
Me: hahaha, dude, it's cool, I succumbed as well
Chis: Okay, so the guy who plays Heath Ledger's character- that's how Edward should have acted in the Twilight movie
Me: Agreed, Pattinson is hot, but his acting SUCKED!...my dad is yelling that he can't hear the show, I'll call you when it's over.
click

After Chis made this observation, I couldn't help realizing that Lindsey Shaw would have made a really good Bella, looks wise AND her acting ability, of which Kristen Stewart has NONE.

Anyway, I actually really ended up liking the show. A-

Movie Review: Public Enemies

Here's the Thing:

Last night I went to see Public Enemies staring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.

Taking place during the Great Depression, the film focuses on the true story of FBI agent, Melvin Purvis attempts to stop notorious bank robbers and criminals John Dilinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd.

All in all I really enjoyed the movie, and how can one not if Johnny Depp is starring in it? Not only is he attractive as hell. but in my opinion he is one of the most talented and versatile actors of our time. He strikes an uncanny resemblance to the real John Dilinger as well.

Normally I am a huge fan of Christian Bale as well, but to be honest he didn't really do it for me in this movie. I felt most of his acting for this role was done by intense staring and flaring nostrils, not to say that he didn't look hot doing it, but next to Depp's acting, it was really undermined.

The music was also awesome in this movie, my favorites score pieces were during the scenes in which Dilinger and his gang are robbing banks, it had an old west, guitar feeling to it.

All in all I give the movie a B+, and it's definitely a movie to see

R.I.P Michael Jackson

Here's the Thing:

Today, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, will be buried in Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A memorial ceremony will take place in the Staples Center in southern California. Tickets, which were in high demand, were given out lottery style to anyone who registered online. Many of the tickets won have been showing up on ebay for as little as $999 per ticket.

Furthermore, other tickets were given out to watch a live feed of the memorial service at the Nokia center across the street.

This Memorial service is no doubt going to get a little crazy with all the fans and celebrities showing up to pay their last respect to Michael.

Noticeably absent from the service will be Jackson's best friend, Elizabeth Taylor, and "mother" of his children, Debbie Rowe.

I would not call myself a die-hard fan of Michael Jackson, but I was certainly a fan of his music, and found myself countless times jamming out to his top hits. I definitely recognize and am saddened over the loss of such a musical sensation.

Dumb Bitch

Here's the Thing:
An Australian tabloid is claiming that the famed stuttering, disgusting whore aka Kristen Stewart is pregnant, and that Robert Pattinson is the father. That's hmmm. Renesme anyone?

I hate Kristen Stewart more than I hate anything in the WORLD. I hope to god that she is fo shiz up the spout, but it better not be with Robert Pattinson's child.
Despite the fact that I might want to kill her if she slept with him, I will control my jealous rage. However, I'm not sure the same can be said for the INSANE legions of fans, who call themselves Twihards.

Even if Kristen is not pregs, I'm glad she is getting fat.

Crazy Quotes from Megan Fox

Here's the Thing:

Megan Fox, like children, should be seen, and not heard.

In a new interview found on azcentral.com, Megan Fox claims that she and Zac Efron are the same person.

She states, " Zac Efron is my obsession, we're the same person. We're not actually here, it's like Janet and Michael Jackson. He just puts on his wig and a dress, and it's me, and you don't know that. It's one of the greatest mysteries of all time."

What the hell does that even mean?

The 8th dwarf- grumpy gay

Here's the Thing:

A while back I went to dinner at a nice Sushi restaurant with my friends.  The second we sat down, they all pulled out their phones and started texting people, so I politely asked if we could not text during dinner, seeing as it was a nice restaurant, which was met with disgruntled sighs, but my friends agreed.

Furthermore, I ordered a spring roll as an appetizer, and while I was in the middle of story the waitress came and took my spring roll, despite the fact that there was more than half the spring roll left.  I was a wee bit upset, as I still had to pay for said spring roll.

The reason I tell this story is because I was just informed that my behavior mentioned above, was the characteristic of a gay man, and now am dubbed, "grumpy gay" I don't see how this qualifies me as a grumpy gay, comment with possible explanations.

Eskimo's Lament

Here's the Thing:

Today, Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, announced that she will step down at the end of the month.  As Vice President candidate in last year's election, many thought that she was the GOP front runner for the 2012 Presidential election.

Her resignation could mean a plethora of things, and here are some of my theories:

1.  She wants to be able to devote more time to the 2012 election- I am blown away that any sane person would actually consider her for President.  I am pretty sure that if she ever became President, America would spontaneously combust.

2. She has signed on for her own reality or talk show- if this is the case, I will be thrilled! A Sarah Palin talk show would be without a doubt the most entertaining thing I've ever seen. I smell an emmy!

3.  Tina Fey is quitting 30rd Rock, and she will be replacing her.

4.  She will be designing her own line of t-shirts with the phrase "I like guns!"

Although I do not agree with anything that Sarah Palin believes in- and I actually believe she is a disgrace to both women and mankind, I am rather sad to hear this news.  At least she was entertaining!

I mean....

Haiku for Britney Spears

Here's the Thing:

One of my favorite blogs, Vulture, from New York Magazine hosted a poetry contest in which one must submit a haiku about Britney Spears, and the winner would win tickets to see her Circus show at Madison Square Garden.

For those of who who don't know, a haiku is a form of Japanese poetry consisting of three lines, with 5-7-5 syllables respectively.  They also contain seasonal or nature references.  So without any further ado, here was the winning entry:

A slave 4 scandal
Your Cheeto libido drives
This toxic joy ride

Duff on Gossip Girl

Here's the Thing:

Hillary Duff aka Lizzie McGuire will be joining the cast of Gossip Girl as Oliva Burke, Vanessa's roommate at NYU. Oliva is a famous movie star who comes to NYU in order to get a traditional college experience.

Hillary Duff amuses me, and she was phenomenal in the heart wrenching drama Material Girls, so I'm sure she will be good in this role.

As long as she keeps her veneers away from Chuck Bass, I could care less.

Kevin Jonas gets to have sex!

Here's the Thing:

No one actually cares about Kevin Jonas. In fact, I always just called him the Fat Jonas Brother.

Either which way People is reporting, Kevin, 21, and Danielle, 22, got engaged yesterday morning when Kevin showed up on her door step in New Jersey, dropping down to his knee and asking her to marry him. Kevin states "she said 'yes, yes, yes' like 500 times, super fast in a row."

First of all, why am I not surprised that the girlfriend of the Fat Jonas is from New Jersey. Although, I do have a new appreciation for the trash that comes out of New Jersey ever since I watched The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Second of all, that's really young to be getting married. That's basically someone my age getting married. Imagine me getting married. No effing way am I ready to be a wife! Now, I understand, that he took a "vow" to remain a virgin until married, but if you get married that young, it's not much of a vow. At this rate, I may be a virgin until I'm married, and I didn't even ask for that!

Third of all, I thought he was gay...???

Fourth of all, are you sure that her 'yes, yes, yes' wasn't just practice for when she has to fake it?

Congrats on your nuptials KJ!

Gay Indians!!!

Here's the Thing:

No, Grady Seizemore is not out of the closet, thank god, BUT an Indian court in New Delhi has ruled today that consensual sexual relations between adults of the same gender is legal in India.

This ruling partially strikes down the law in the Indian penal code- section 377- which criminalized consensual homosexual acts.

Well, it's not perfect, but it's a start. Remember, equality for all!

To learn more about equal rights for gays and lesbians check out the website for the International Lesbian and Gay Association here:

Henry VIII I am!

Here's the Thing:

So I know I am about two seasons behind, but last night I started watching season 1 of The Tudors, and it's awesome! The show is based on the reign of the English monarch, King Henry VIII, who is probably one of the most well known rulers form the Tudor dynasty.

Season 1 highlights the period of King Henry's rule when his effectiveness as a king is tested by international conflicts, such as a desired war with France. Furthermore, the pressure for him to produce a male heir "forces" him to reject his Spanish Queen, Katherine of Aragon, and for many other female parmours, including the famous Anne Boyeln.

It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII, which Showtime has taken some liberties with, because honestly, the real Henry was nowhere near that attractive. In fact, according to my history book he was really gross looking, and kind of fat. Furthermore, during the time of which the show takes place Henry was about 40 years old, with a larger age gap between him and Anne. In the show Henry and Anne seem to be closer in age, but I am not complaining, they are both hot!

I'm only on the fourth episode, but I already love it. I have never really been that much into history but something about the Tudors, and the story of King Henry VIII and all his wifes captivates me. What can I say? I love a good scandal filled with sex, murder, power and betrayl.

Idealistically, I've always thought that it would be awesome to live during this time. Realistically though, I am an upper-middle class woman, so chances are I would have been married off to some old nobelman when I was 14 years old, and would virtually have no other role in life except to run the house and bear him children. Not quite the scandouls life I would have liked.

The Tudors airs on Showtime and I'll kep you updated on any information about season 4. In the meantime you can purchase Season 1 on DVD here:
